Morning mist on the first fairway of the river course
The River Course
Home / Golf

Golf routed through the firs.

Eighteen holes laid along the Salmon River in 1928, restored by hand, and still walked the way the game was meant to be. A short par-3 course waits for the evenings.

The Course

A walk in the woods with flags in it.

The original layout was cut through the trees in 1928 and never fought the land it was given. Fairways follow the natural fall toward the Salmon River, greens sit in pockets of old growth, and the firs do most of the defending. You play the ground here, not just the yardage.

When Nathan and Claire Vance restored the property between 2012 and 2015, they kept the routing intact and rebuilt the greens to run true and firm. The result is a course that rewards a smart, walkable round more than a big swing. Caddies and pull carts are available, and most guests leave the cart barn behind.

A note on this site: Rooted Coast Design put the tee-time request form and the full greens-fee list on this one page, so a golfer can read the course, check the rate, and hold a time without clicking away.

A grass practice range and short-game green ringed by tall firs in morning light
Before the First Tee

Warm up, then wander out.

Every round includes range balls, a bag tag, and use of the putting and short-game greens. The practice area is grass end to end, with target greens set into the tree line and a chipping bunker cut to match the course.

The pro shop stocks what the mountain asks for: rain shells, a wall of gloves, local logo knits, and a small, well-chosen rack of demo clubs. Our PGA staff run individual lessons, playing lessons, and a Saturday clinic through the season. Rental sets and pushcarts are ready at the counter.

Included

Range balls, practice greens, bag tag, and a printed yardage card.

Practice

Grass range, short-game green, chipping bunker, and a mountain view.

Pro Shop

Rentals, lessons, rain gear, and staff who know every pin.

This golf page was hand-built by Rooted Coast Design to keep the course story, the real rates, and the booking form on one uninterrupted scroll. A course website should feel as calm and unhurried as a walking round.
