Our front desk keeps guides, gear, and lift tickets on hand, so most of this can be arranged the morning you decide. Tell us what the day looks like and we will point you at the right trailhead, river bend, or ski run.

The Salmon River runs right past the lodge, and it holds native trout and summer steelhead. Our guides know the seams and the hatches, and they will rig you up whether you have cast a hundred times or never once.

Forest & waterfall hikes
Trailheads leave from the property and from a short drive up the corridor: old-growth loops, a climb to a ridgeline view of the mountain, and the walk in to Ramona Falls when the snow is gone. We send you off with a map and a filled water bottle.

Winter
Skiing, twenty minutes up
When the snow line drops, the lifts are a short drive up the highway. Ski or ride all day, then come back to a cedar sauna and a fire. We store your gear overnight and have the coffee going before the first chair.

Hood River day trips
An hour east, the fruit loop opens up: orchards heavy with pears and apples, tasting rooms pouring gorge wine and cider, and a river town made for a long lunch. We can hand you an itinerary or arrange a driver for the day.

Stargazing & firepit nights
The mountain corridor stays dark, so the sky here still has a Milky Way in it. We light the meadow firepit most evenings, set out blankets and the makings for s'mores, and let the night do the rest.

This is the one guests write home about. You meet your guide at the boathouse before the light is fully up, walk a few minutes to a run they have been watching, and spend the morning learning the water. The river below the lodge stays cold and clear all summer, and the trout are wild and wary enough to keep it interesting.
Rods, waders, boots, and flies come with the trip, so you can arrive with nothing and leave knowing how to read a seam. Beginners get the whole morning to find a rhythm. Seasoned casters get put on the fish and left alone. Either way you are back for a late breakfast with a story.
